get involved!

There are many ways to get plugged in the community of Calvary. From volunteering on teams, with the Mobile Food Pantry, being a part of fellowship events, Circle groups (our temporary small groups each season), or many other ways to serve and connect with others.

Feeding America Mobile Food Pantry

Calvary is host to a Feeding America Mobile Food Pantry twice a month, on the first and third Thursdays at 5:00pm.  Come and help beginning about 4:15!

S

Whether it's a potluck, trunk or treat, trivia night, cornhole tournament, soup cook-off, church camping, or a puzzle party. We try to get together and enjoy time in fellowship with each other!

Circle groups

The first goal of Circles is for people to have a chance to get to know each other better, growing closer together and growing in Christ. Think “short term small groups focused on fellowship” and you get the idea. Circles mostly gather 3 times and can meet in a variety of times and places focused on a variety of activities; we could meet at homes, church, or public places, during the week or on the weekends, for board games, hiking, serving, Bible study, or sitting around a fire. The goal is fellowship so that we can grow together: how this happens is up to you and the Spirit. When fellowship happens well in these Circles (and in the church), we believe it leads directly to discipleship.

Every Circle will look slightly different, but we will provide a discussion theme for each season of Circles (both fall and spring) with questions and prompts focused on that theme for each time the Circle meets. This doesn’t mean a Circle couldn’t use other material for a deeper study if they so desired, but having a theme for each season will help us all have a similar experience as we participate in similar discussions. One thing that may be slightly different from other small group experiences is that we want to emphasize relationships over content in these Circle experiences. Gathering together, being present with each other, sharing stories back and forth: these all sound like humble goals, but they lead to deeper fellowship, which leads in turn to discipleship.

For Adults

Women's and Men's Bible Studies happen throughout the year.

Women - Tuesday Mornings at 9:30 in the Library

Men - Check with our office as times and location can fluctuate.

TNT (Tried-N-True), Meets one Wednesday a month at 11:30am at a local restuarant for lunch. These are aimed at providing adult age members for a time of food, fun, laughter, and sharing.

Community garden

We also have a Community Garden on our property that we make available to neighbors and church members alike. It has become a vibrant spot for growing healthy food as well as friendships with our neighbors.  Applications are typically due by the beginning of May to reserve a plot.

hand 2 hand

Nearly 65,000 children in West Michigan are at risk of hunger.

Hand2Hand mobilizes schools, churches, businesses, foundations, and individuals to provide a backpack of nutritious food over the weekend and extended school breaks.

Beyond physical nutrition, this food provides hope for students who are experiencing hunger.

Currently, Hand2Hand is serving up to 15,000 students in 280 schools, from early elementary through high school, in 45 school districts in West Michigan.

At Calvary, a small team of people help buy, organize, fill, and deliver sacks of food for over 75 children in three local schools during the school year.
