Spring 2019 Schedule

Thanks to our awesome sponsors: Metro Health, One Wyoming, Classis Grandville, and Mercantile Bank. All of our classes are FREE and open to all of Greater Grand Rapids, unless otherwise noted. We want to make it easy for anyone and everyone to be able to participate and get involved!!

  • COMMUNITY RECOVERY on Monday nights from 6:15 pm to 9:30 pm. 

    Community Recovery serves a free meal at 6:15, followed by a recovery worship service at 7:00 pm. Support groups start at 8:00, with a dessert following.

    • Alcoholics Anonymous - It all begins here!! AA at CR is a sanctioned AA group that uses the big book, the traditions, and the 12 steps. The format is open share and various topics are addressed weekly. 

    • Relationship Recovery - Learn to build healthy relationships Biblically with the discussion group. Many  topics regarding relationships are addressed by way of the Bible, videos, and discussion as facilitated by group leaders. 

    • Chemical Dependency - Designed for those who struggle with addictions to narcotics and other substances. Narcotics Anonymous (NA) follows the 12 steps and their biblical  comparisons and uses a support group format for each individual sharing their experiences, strengths, and hope. 

    • Emotions Anonymous - This group is composed of people who come together in a weekly meeting for the purpose of working toward recovery from emotional difficulties. EA provides a warm and accepting group setting in which to share experiences without fear of criticism. 

    • Recovery Bible Study - Explore the step of the month by way of Scripture! This group brings the recovery steps to life as God speaks through the Word and the open share format where topics are addressed. 

    • Women's Narcotics Anonymous - NA for women follows the NA protocol with the NA Big Book, traditions, and various topics relating directly to the 12 steps of recovery. 

    • Love Alive - This group dynamically brings Jesus and life together. Each participant will learn to build Christian character, follow through on life goals, and become all that God has created them to be. Topics include integrity, respect, budgeting, and life choices. 

    • Relapse Prevention - This program is based on the principle that there are predictable warning signs that precede relapse, and secondly, that relapse can be prevented if you can learn how to recognize and manage the warning signs. Furthermore, it is designed to help you cope more effectively and to identify and overcome the stressors or triggers in your environment.

    In the Coffee Spot

    Everyone loves Bingo! Come and play with new and old friends, win fantastic prizes, and have a great time! Stay after the game for a fitness class! Everyone's a winner! 


    Meets: Tuesdays & Thursdays at 9:00 am - Rain or Snow

    There are many benefits of walking such as losing weight, reducing stress, lowering blood pressure, and keeping your heart healthy. Come join us twice a week as we walk together to a healthier lifestyle. All abilities are welcome. Led by Shanna Grigoletti who has a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science and has been a personal trainer at the YMCA.  


    Instructor: Emily Sluiter

    Meets: Tuesdays at 11:00 am and the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm. 

    This class is led by Emily, who is a social worker and also a certified yoga instructor. A gentle yoga class which will stretch and strengthen all major muscle groups through seated, standing, and reclined postures. Modifications will be offered, making this a great class for those who may be new to yoga. Your body will thank you!

    Meets: Tuesdays at 10:00 am

    Enjoy all the benefits of yoga from the stability of a chair! Participants will stretch and strengthen major muscle groups in a gentle, fun class which will focus on improving blood circulation and building flexibility and range of motion while remaining seated. 

    This class is perfect for those who are new to yoga and modifications will be offered so participants can choose their level of activity. Join us to learn something new and make new friends!


    Meets: Tuesdays at 7:00 pm following bingo

    Cardio-kickboxing is a group fitness class that combines martial arts techniques with fast-paced cardio. This high-energy workout challenges the beginner and elite athlete alike. Build stamina, improve coordination and flexibility, and burn calories as you build lean muscle with this fun and challenging workout.

    Ages High School and above. 

    Meets: Most Thursdays at 7:00 pm

    Please note that you must sign-up in advance with the contact information provided above. 

    If you are interested in playing or learning how to play, we have a group that plays here most Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm for high school ages and older. 


    Price: $5 for small plot and $10 for large plot

    If you don't have the space but love gardening, or just want to try it out, then come rent a plot at our community garden! Learn from others, and meet new neighbours, all while enjoying the outdoors. Spots are limited and fill up fast so fill out an application, which can be found in the church office.

    Thursdays at 12:00 pm

    A great time to learn new ways to cook, and new recipes to try. Each week a different person will lead the group in how to cook their favorite dish or style. This is a great opportunity to experience different styles of cooking and try new things, as well as increase your cooking skills.

    Meets: 11:00 am - 12:00 pm - 2nd Thursday of each month

    Dates: March 14, April 11, May 9

    Celeste is a banker at Mercantile Bank, and she loves teaching people about budgeting and how to live and thrive on any income. She will help you set up a personal budget and help those with fixed incomes to make their dollars stretch further. 


    Led By: Rivertown Artists Guild

    Meets: 2:00 - 4:00 pm - 3rd Thursday of the month

    During our meeting there will be a snack and a short informational meeting and then a program. Programs will be either a hands-on learning experience, a demonstration, or a presentation. Rivertown has many opportunities to show our artist's work. Our mission is "Artists helping Artists." It is our goal to have people become the best artist they can be. Also, bring in any of your own paintings and try to win Artist Of The Month!

    Available weekdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

    The Clothing Exchange is a collection of clothes, shoes, and household items that are free to the community. Come and choose what you need, and leave things you don't need anymore to be a blessing to someone else. Located inside the west entry doors, and available during Coffee Spot hours. 


    Every 4th Thursday of the month at 5:00 pm

    Dates: March 28, April 25, May 23

    Location: Calvary Church Gym & Welcome Center

    On the 4th Thursday of each month, we sponsor a food truck from West Michigan Feeding America in conjunction with Wyoming Family Network. We order 7500 lbs of food in an effort to have enough for everyone. 

    We invite people into the gym to wait in line and try to make this a great experience for everyone. 

    Distribution begins at 5:00 pm.

    Tuesdays at 9:30 am and 7:00 pm (Both sessions are the same) 

    Join us as we go through a 5-session study from Priscilla Shirer. One of the greatest challenges among women in our culture is taking time to cease from all activities and just breathe. By neglecting time for tranquility, serenity, and repose, we limit our Christ-likeness and miss out on some of God's greatest gifts. If you are weary, worn out, and exhausted, then the concepts of Sabbath will change your life.
